What Is LAN-EMULATION-ELAN-MIB?
LAN-EMULATION-ELAN-MIB is an ATM Forum-defined standards MIB for managing Emulated LAN (ELAN) services in ATM LAN Emulation (LANE) environments, where an ATM network presents itself to end stations as an emulated Ethernet or Token Ring LAN. Its categories include ELAN configuration via the elanConfTable, virtual connection associations, and LANE-specific service parameters such as LES/BUS/LECS addressing. Its monitoring emphasis is primarily configuration and connection-state visibility for the emulated LAN service — confirming which ELANs are configured, their assigned index, and the state of underlying LANE virtual circuits — rather than physical hardware sensors. It is specific to ATM Forum LANE and depends on underlying ATM/AAL and ATM-MIB objects for physical/VC-layer detail. It is deployed on legacy ATM switches and LANE servers (LES/BUS/LECS) used to bridge ATM backbones with legacy Ethernet/Token Ring segments. Monitoring Examples
An operator would consult elanConfTable, indexed using the next-available ELAN index, to see which Emulated LANs are configured on the device and to create a new ELAN entry when provisioning one. Because sample objects beyond elanConfTable weren't captured here, deeper per-connection detail such as LES/BUS virtual circuit state would be found in adjoining LANE tables not listed. An unexpected gap or reused index in elanConfTable could indicate a stale or improperly torn-down ELAN configuration on the LANE server.
