Description: Manages SMAE (Systems Management Application Entity) configuration on CX Memotec devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXSmae-MIB?

CXSmae-MIB is a vendor-specific Aastra/CX MIB implementing SMAE (Systems Management Application Entity) style configuration and control on CX Memotec devices, an OSI systems-management concept adapted to this platform. Its object set is minimal, providing a restart control and a general configuration branch rather than detailed runtime telemetry. For hardware/software status monitoring, cxSmRestart is the most operationally significant object, allowing (and by extension letting a monitoring system record) a remote software/system restart of the managed device, which is directly tied to device availability and software-level recovery actions. It reflects OSI network management conventions (the SMAE concept originates from the OSI systems management model) applied within Aastra's proprietary MIB structure. It is typically deployed as a low-level management/control MIB alongside the richer per-protocol CX MIBs on the same WAN access chassis. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CXSmae-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXSmae-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aastra ConvertedX (CX) WAN access device

Monitoring Examples

An operator or management system would invoke cxSmRestart to remotely trigger a device restart when a fault condition reported by other CX MIBs (for example, a stuck voice path or hung port) cannot be cleared through protocol-specific reset objects. cxSmConfig would be checked to view or adjust general system-level configuration outside of any single protocol module. Because the object set is so small, this MIB functions as a basic system control point rather than a monitoring feed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • system restart control
  • general system configuration state
