Category: IP and Core Protocols, Vendor: Cabletron/Enterasys

Description: Manages Cabletron DHCP server and relay configuration including scope definitions and lease monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CTRON-DHCP-MIB?

CTRON-DHCP-MIB is a Cabletron (Enterasys) MIB for managing DHCP server and relay functionality embedded in Cabletron network devices, covering scope/subnet configuration and address lease tracking. It exposes configuration objects for DHCP scopes (subnet, lease time ranges, option settings) and monitoring objects for active lease bindings, letting administrators see which IP addresses are currently assigned. In terms of device status, it is primarily a software/service-status MIB: it lets an operator confirm the DHCP service is running correctly, track lease pool exhaustion, and audit relay configuration rather than report physical hardware sensors. It follows conventions common to other Cabletron/Enterasys management MIBs and can coexist with standard DHCP-related MIBs on the same device. It is deployed on Cabletron/Enterasys switches or routers acting as DHCP servers/relays in small-to-midsize network deployments. Engineers can download the CTRON-DHCP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-DHCP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cabletron/Enterasys switch or router (DHCP server/relay)

Monitoring Examples

Only an "IMPORTS" placeholder was supplied as a sample object, with no real data or table names, so specific polling targets cannot be confirmed without the source MIB. Based on its documented purpose, a typical use would be checking scope lease-pool utilization to detect address exhaustion or auditing relay configuration against expected subnet policy.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCP scope/subnet configuration
  • lease pool utilization
  • active lease bindings
  • DHCP relay configuration
