Description: Manages Multicast Service Provider configuration and multicast tree statistics on Cisco routing platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-MSP-MIB?

CISCO-MSP-MIB manages Media/Multicast Service Proxy (MSP) functionality on Cisco routing platforms, providing media services such as metadata handling and RSVP signaling to network endpoints and their associated traffic flows. It belongs to the multicast/media-services networking area, exposing global enable/disable status, globally applied MSP profiles, and per-interface profile assignments through cMspIfProfileTable and cMspProfileTable. Its data is largely configuration and operational-state oriented: cMspGlobalStatus indicates whether the service is running, and per-profile RSVP and service settings (cMspProfileRsvp, cMspProfileService) reveal how media flows are being signaled and prioritized on a given interface—effectively a software-feature health check rather than hardware sensor data. Profile row status objects also let administrators confirm configuration objects are active and valid. This MIB is deployed on Cisco routers delivering managed media services (e.g., video/RSVP-signaled flows) in service-provider or enterprise media-delivery networks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CISCO-MSP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-MSP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco router

Monitoring Examples

An engineer checks cMspGlobalStatus to confirm MSP is enabled system-wide, then inspects cMspIfProfileTable/cMspIfProfileEntry for cMspIfProfileRowStatus and the linked cMspProfileTable's cMspProfileRsvp setting on a WAN-facing interface. If an interface's cMspIfProfileRowStatus shows the profile isn't active while global status is enabled, this reveals a configuration gap explaining why RSVP-signaled media flows on that interface aren't being proxied as expected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • global MSP enable/disable status
  • per-interface MSP profile assignment
  • profile RSVP and service settings
  • profile row/configuration status
