What is ctDhcpDiscovers?
ctDhcpDiscovers is a read-only counter of the number of DHCPDISCOVER messages received by the DHCP server since its last reset. An admin watches this to gauge how many clients are actively trying to obtain an address from this server, since every new client lease attempt starts with a discover message. For example, a sudden spike in ctDhcpDiscovers right after a network outage would suggest many clients simultaneously rebooted and are all trying to re-acquire an address at once.
Examples
