ctDhcpReclaimIP

Module: CTRON-DHCP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CTRON-DHCP-MIB::ctDhcpReclaimIP

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.2.2.2.3.1.2.12.2.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: IpAddress

Access: read-write

Description: This object is a method of reclaiming abandoned IP addresses. The value reads as 0.0.0.0. Writing to it with an IP address of a client on the active list will remove the entry from the list. It is used to recover addresses with long leases from clients who have left the network without sending a release notice.

What is ctDhcpReclaimIP?

ctDhcpReclaimIP is a read-write object used to reclaim an abandoned IP address, normally reading 0.0.0.0, where writing a client's IP address from the active list removes that entry, intended for recovering addresses with long leases from clients that left the network without sending a release notice. An admin uses this to manually free up an address that a long-lease client is holding but is no longer actually using, without waiting for the lease to expire naturally. For example, an admin who confirms a decommissioned device's old address is still shown as leased would write that address into ctDhcpReclaimIP to immediately return it to the available pool.
