What Is ACD-ERP-MIB?

ACD-ERP-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Accedian Networks for its MetroNID Ethernet demarcation devices, covering Ethernet Ring Protection (ERP, ITU-T G.8032) configuration and status used for ring-topology network resilience. It exposes a configuration table describing ring protection instances, including the Ring Protection Link (RPL) role and port, and various protection timers. Its monitoring value is primarily around software/protocol state rather than physical hardware — confirming ring protection is correctly configured (RPL role/port, revertive mode, hold-off/guard/WTR timers) so that the ring can properly fail over and recover, which is effectively fault-tolerance/service-status monitoring for the Ethernet ring. It builds on the ITU-T G.8032 Ethernet ring protection standard rather than proprietary Accedian-only concepts. It is deployed in metro Ethernet or carrier ring networks using Accedian MetroNID devices at ring nodes. Engineers can download the ACD-ERP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

The sample objects show an acdErpConfigTable/acdErpConfigEntry keyed by acdErpIndex, with fields such as acdErpConfigRPLRole, acdErpConfigRPLPort, acdErpConfigRevertive, acdErpConfigHoldOffTimer, acdErpConfigGuardTimer, and acdErpConfigWTRTimer. An administrator would poll this table to confirm each ring node's RPL role and timer settings are consistent across the ring, and a mismatched acdErpConfigRPLRole or an unexpectedly long acdErpConfigWTRTimer could explain slow or failed ring recovery after a link fault. This table is central to diagnosing G.8032 ring protection misbehavior on MetroNID devices.
