What Is ACCEDIAN-SMI?

ACCEDIAN-SMI is the Structure of Management Information module for Accedian Networks, defining the enterprise's private OID registration subtree used by its MetroNID Ethernet performance-monitoring demarcation devices. It establishes only the top-level object identifiers (including an 'experiment' branch, acdExperiment, common in early-stage enterprise MIB trees) under which Accedian's functional MIB modules register their performance and configuration objects within the ACCEDIAN-SMI OID tree. As a pure SMI/root module it has no hardware or software status objects of its own, so it does not directly expose uptime, temperature, CPU/memory, or throughput data — those live in dependent Accedian performance-monitoring MIBs. It is a required structural dependency for the family of Accedian/MetroNID MIB modules. It is deployed as a prerequisite MIB wherever Accedian MetroNID Ethernet demarcation and performance-monitoring devices are managed via SNMP.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ACCEDIAN-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Accedian MetroNID Ethernet demarcation devices

Monitoring Examples

ACCEDIAN-SMI has no data-bearing sample objects beyond the acdExperiment registration branch, which is a placeholder OID subtree rather than a monitorable object; it exists so that dependent Accedian MetroNID performance and configuration MIBs can register their tables under a consistent enterprise OID root. There is no standalone monitoring scenario — an SNMP tool loads this module before the functional Accedian MIBs that expose actual Ethernet performance metrics.
