What Is ACD-SA-MIB?

The ACD-SA-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Accedian Networks used on its MetroNID Ethernet demarcation devices to manage service activation (SA) testing similar to ITU-T Y.1564-style validation. It exposes configuration objects for defining test services, associated metric configuration objects, and notification definitions for reporting test outcomes. It is used mainly for monitoring and controlling service turn-up test runs rather than general chassis hardware health, letting an operator start/stop tests, track the administrative state of a service test, and read reporting-period and window-size parameters used in loss/availability calculations. It is a self-contained enterprise MIB typically deployed alongside other Accedian MIBs covering general performance monitoring and system status on the same NID. It's typically used by carrier Ethernet service providers validating SLA compliance at circuit turn-up and during periodic re-certification of business Ethernet services, often after an ACD-SA-MIB download to load the module into their test and monitoring tools.

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll acdSaServiceConfigTable entries indexed by acdSaServiceIndex to check acdSaServiceConfigAdminState and confirm whether an activation test is running, idle, or completed for a given acdSaServiceConfigName. Fields like acdSaServiceConfigReportingPeriod, acdSaServiceConfigUaWindowSize and acdSaServiceConfigHliWindowSize configure the unavailability and high-loss-interval windows used by the throughput/availability test. If a test enters an unexpected admin state or an acdSaNotifications trap fires, it typically signals the Ethernet service under test failed to meet configured performance thresholds.
