Category: Vendor: Accedian

Description: Monitors SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) transceiver optical parameters on Accedian MetroNID Ethernet performance devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ACD-SFP-MIB?

ACD-SFP-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Accedian Networks for its MetroNID Ethernet performance monitoring devices, exposing an inventory of installed SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) transceiver modules and their optical/vendor identity parameters. It exposes hardware inventory data such as vendor name, part number, revision, wavelength, and serial number for each installed SFP. Its monitoring value is squarely hardware-status oriented — it lets an operator confirm which transceiver hardware is physically installed in each port and detect unsupported, mismatched, or aging optics, and it also defines notification objects for transceiver-related events (e.g., insertion/removal or fault). It is a self-contained hardware inventory MIB with no strong dependency on other standard MIBs beyond general SNMP conventions. It is deployed on Accedian MetroNID devices used for Ethernet service demarcation and performance monitoring in metro/access networks, where ACD-SFP-MIB SNMP monitoring helps operators track optics health across the fleet.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ACD-SFP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Accedian MetroNID Ethernet performance device

Monitoring Examples

The acdSfpInfoTable/acdSfpInfoEntry, indexed by acdSfpInfoID and acdSfpInfoConnIdx, exposes fields like acdSfpInfoVendor, acdSfpInfoVendorOui, acdSfpInfoVendorPn, acdSfpInfoVendorRev, acdSfpInfoWavelength, and acdSfpInfoSerialNum. An administrator would poll this table to inventory installed optics across a device's ports and flag any SFP whose acdSfpInfoVendor or acdSfpInfoWavelength doesn't match the expected type for that link, which could explain a link that won't establish due to an incompatible transceiver. The acdSfpNotifications group would also be used to alert on SFP insertion, removal, or fault events.

What Can Be Monitored

  • installed SFP vendor and part number
  • SFP wavelength
  • SFP serial number
  • SFP connector type
  • transceiver insertion/removal events
