What Is A3COM-PORTPATH-R6-MIB?
A3COM-PORTPATH-R6-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for 3Com networking equipment that manages port-path and channel configuration, describing forwarding paths and topology relationships between switch ports, including options like T1 mode, ITCM settings, and CRC checking on the path. It exposes both configuration objects (path naming, port assignment, T1/ITCM options) and status objects for administrative and operational path state. This is useful for monitoring the software/hardware status of inter-port links: an operator can check a path's admin vs. operational status to detect a path that has been configured up but has failed operationally, potentially indicating a physical link or framing problem, and CRC-resync counters can reveal line-quality issues. It is a standalone 3Com vendor MIB without a stated dependency on other standard MIBs. Typical deployment is on 3Com WAN/T1-capable switching or routing equipment where multiple logical paths are configured over shared physical ports. Monitoring Examples
An administrator would walk a3ComPathTable (a3ComPathEntry, indexed by a3ComPathIndex) to enumerate configured paths, checking a3ComPathAdminStatus against a3ComPathOperStatus to spot a path that is administratively enabled but operationally down. Polling a3ComPathCryptoResync and a3ComPathCRC can reveal repeated resynchronization or CRC errors indicating a degraded T1 line, while a3ComPathT1Mode confirms the framing mode in use on that path.
