What Is XUPS-MIB?
The XUPS-MIB is a vendor MIB, associated with Powerware/Eaton-branded UPS systems based on its object naming, for monitoring uninterruptible power supply units. It exposes device identity (manufacturer, model, software version), battery status (time remaining, voltage, current, capacity, advanced battery management status), and input power quality (line frequency, bad-line event counts, number of phases). Its core purpose is hardware status monitoring: battery health and charge level, input power-quality/failure events, and firmware version identification, all central to anticipating an impending power outage impact or a failing battery. It largely stands alone as a vendor MIB, though it conceptually parallels the objects modeled in the standardized IETF UPS-MIB (RFC 1628). It is deployed wherever these UPS units protect servers, network equipment, or other critical infrastructure, with XUPS-MIB SNMP monitoring polled by facilities/IT teams for power-continuity alerts.

Monitoring Examples
xupsBatTimeRemaining and xupsBatCapacity let an operator watch how much runtime and charge percentage remain on the UPS battery, flagging a unit whose remaining time drops below a safe threshold during an outage. xupsInputLineBads counts input line quality events, so a rising count would indicate unstable utility power causing the UPS to engage more frequently, while xupsIdentSoftwareVersion confirms the UPS firmware version for compliance and patch tracking.
