Category: Tripp Lite Power Management, UPS and Power Management

Description: Monitors Tripp Lite UPS units including battery status, input voltage, load percentage, and fault conditions.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TRIPPUPS1-MIB?

TRIPPUPS1-MIB is a Tripp Lite vendor MIB for managing and monitoring Tripp Lite uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, covering battery condition, input power quality, output load, and configurable fault thresholds. It exposes battery temperature, configured input-voltage high/low thresholds, output percent-load-high threshold, battery percent-low threshold, and battery temperature-high threshold, alongside broader UPS identity, battery, and input group objects. This is fundamentally a power/hardware-health monitoring MIB: it lets an administrator track battery health (temperature, charge level) and utility input voltage quality, and detect an overload condition via output load percentage, all central to preventing unplanned shutdowns from UPS or battery failure. It follows the general structure of the standard UPS-MIB (RFC 1628) naming conventions (upsBattery, upsInput, upsIdent groups) suggesting a close conceptual alignment with, if not direct reuse of, that IETF standard. It is typically deployed on Tripp Lite UPS units protecting servers, network closets, or other critical infrastructure requiring backup power monitoring. Engineers can download the TRIPPUPS1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TRIPPUPS1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Tripp Lite uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll upsBatteryTemperature and compare it against upsConfigBatteryTemperatureHigh to detect an overheating battery, and check upsConfigInputVoltageHigh/upsConfigInputVoltageLow thresholds against the live input voltage reading to spot utility power quality issues. A load reading approaching upsConfigOutputPercLoadHigh combined with upsConfigBatteryPercLow being crossed would reveal the UPS is both overloaded and running low on battery reserve, a strong signal of imminent shutdown risk during a power event.

What Can Be Monitored

  • battery temperature
  • battery charge percentage vs. low threshold
  • output load percentage vs. high threshold
  • input voltage vs. high/low thresholds
