What Is Wellfleet-IPV6-MIB?

This is a vendor-specific proprietary MIB from Wellfleet Communications (later Bay Networks/Nortel), an early implementation for managing IPv6 on its multiprotocol routers, predating widespread IPv6 deployment. It exposes IPv6 interface address assignments, neighbor discovery protocol state, and routing table statistics. It supports software status monitoring because neighbor discovery cache state and routing table size reflect whether IPv6 reachability and route learning are functioning correctly on that router. It conceptually parallels the standard IETF IPv6 MIBs (RFC 2465/2466) though implemented as a Wellfleet-proprietary equivalent from that era. It is typically deployed on Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers that were early adopters piloting IPv6 alongside IPv4 in dual-stack network environments. Engineers can download the Wellfleet-IPV6-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
