wfIpv6BaseForwarding

Module: Wellfleet-IPV6-MIB

OID (symbolic): Wellfleet-IPV6-MIB::wfIpv6BaseForwarding

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.16.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The indication of whether this entity is acting as an IPv6 router in respect to the forwarding of datagrams received by, but not addressed to, this entity. IPv6 routers forward datagrams. IPv6 hosts do not (except those source-routed via the host).

Note that for some managed nodes, this object may take on only a subset of the values possible. Accordingly, it is appropriate for an agent to return a `badValue' response if a management station attempts to change this object to an inappropriate value.

What is wfIpv6BaseForwarding?

Whether the device forwards IPv6 datagrams that arrive addressed to another host (forwarding, i.e. router mode) or only processes datagrams addressed to itself (notforwarding, i.e. host mode). An admin sets this to notforwarding on a box meant to act purely as an IPv6 endpoint rather than a transit router.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.16.1.1.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> Wellfleet-IPV6-MIB::wfIpv6BaseForwarding

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.16.1.1.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> Wellfleet-IPV6-MIB::wfIpv6BaseForwarding.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.16.1.1.1.4.1 i <value>
