wfIpv6IfCircuit

Module: Wellfleet-IPV6-MIB

OID (symbolic): Wellfleet-IPV6-MIB::wfIpv6IfCircuit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.16.1.1.2.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The Circuit Number that this interface runs over. If Circuit Number is between 1 and 1023, it identifies a subnetwork/datalink layer interface, i.e. the layer below the network layer. A subnetwork layer interface is associated with a physical link or, in some rare cases, with a group of physical links. Generally, more than one subnetwork layer interface can be defined on a physical link (e.g. channels on a T1 link).

If the Circuit Number is higher that 1023, it's a circuitless interface, i.e. a logical IPv6 interface that is not associated with any subnetwork layer or physical layer interface.

Zero indicates that it's a tunnel endpoint, i.e. IPv6 packets are encapsulated and transmitted by another network layer protocol or another instance of the IPv6 protocol.

What is wfIpv6IfCircuit?

The Bay Networks circuit number this IPv6 interface rides on: values 1-1023 identify a subnetwork/datalink-layer circuit (usually a physical link), values above 1023 mark a circuitless (purely logical) interface, and 0 marks a tunnel endpoint. An admin reads this to understand whether a given IPv6 interface is bound to real hardware or is a virtual/tunnel construct.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.16.1.1.2.1.6
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> Wellfleet-IPV6-MIB::wfIpv6IfCircuit

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.16.1.1.2.1.6.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> Wellfleet-IPV6-MIB::wfIpv6IfCircuit.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.16.1.1.2.1.6.1 i <value>
