Description: Defines Trapeze Networks WLAN event SNMP trap notifications for AP, client, and system events.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-TRAP-MIB?
TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-TRAP-MIB is a Trapeze Networks vendor-private MIB (trpzMibs.1) that defines the SNMP notifications emitted by Trapeze wireless LAN switches -- referred to in the MIB as Access Controllers (AC) -- and the Access Points (AP) they manage. It is exclusively a notifications MIB, not an object/table MIB, exposing NOTIFICATION-TYPE traps for AP lifecycle and radio events (attach/detach, radio power and channel changes, operational-status transitions), client session events (authentication success/failure, IP address change, roaming), RF Detect security events (rogue or blacklisted AP detection, unauthorized clients), and system events like cluster failures and configuration-saved actions. Because it only carries traps, it is most useful as a real-time event feed for a wireless NMS rather than a polled inventory of counters, alerting operators the moment an AP goes down, a client repeatedly fails authentication, or a rogue AP is classified on the RF spectrum. It depends on companion Trapeze MIBs (TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-AP-TC, TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-CLIENT-SESSION-TC, TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-RF-DETECT-TC, and others) for the textual conventions its trap variable bindings use, and it is deployed on Trapeze/Juniper wireless switch controllers managing fleets of thin APs; administrators can download the TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-TRAP-MIB file to decode these traps in their SNMP trap receiver.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Trapeze Networks wireless LAN switches/Access Controllers (AC) and managed Access Points (AP)
Monitoring Examples
An operator's trap receiver watches for trpzClusterFailureTrap and AP-down/operational-status traps from a Trapeze wireless switch; a trpzApRejectLicenseExceededTrap combined with repeated trpzMichaelMICFailure traps would flag both an AP license-capacity problem and a possible WPA-TKIP attack in progress on the wireless network.
What Can Be Monitored
- AP up/down and operational-status traps
- client authentication/session traps
- RF Detect rogue-AP/interference traps
- radio power/channel change traps
- cluster failure/configuration-saved traps
- multimedia call quality traps
