Category: Wireless LAN Management

Description: Manages Trapeze Networks wireless access point radio, SSID, and operational configuration parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-AP-CONFIG-MIB?

TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-AP-CONFIG-MIB is a Trapeze Networks MIB, implemented on the Access Controller (AC, the wireless switch running the SNMP agent), that configures the wireless Access Points (APs) it manages — radio, SSID, and general operational parameters for each AP in a centrally-controlled wireless LAN. It exposes configuration/inventory data through an AP configuration table describing each AP's attachment type, physical port, serial number, model name, name, and contact information, alongside a conformance/compliance group. Its role in hardware/software status monitoring is mainly inventory and configuration consistency: an administrator uses trpzApConfApConfigApSerialNum and trpzApConfApConfigApModelName to confirm exactly which physical AP hardware is deployed at a given attachment point, and trpzApConfApConfigApTimeout together with the attach-type/physical-port fields to detect an AP that has become unreachable through its controller uplink. It is Trapeze Networks proprietary and is designed to work in conjunction with the Access Controller's other status/statistics MIBs rather than standing alone. It is deployed in enterprise wireless LANs built on Trapeze Networks (later part of Juniper's Mobility System) controller-based architecture, where APs are thin devices managed centrally through an AC. Engineers can download the TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-AP-CONFIG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TRAPEZE-NETWORKS-AP-CONFIG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Trapeze Networks wireless access point
  • Trapeze Networks wireless access controller (AC)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll trpzApConfApConfigTable/trpzApConfApConfigEntry, keyed by trpzApConfApConfigApNum, to look up a specific AP's trpzApConfApConfigApSerialNum and trpzApConfApConfigApModelName and confirm the correct hardware is installed at that location. Checking trpzApConfApConfigApAttachType and trpzApConfApConfigPhysPortNum against trpzApConfApConfigApTimeout would reveal an AP that has stopped responding through its controller connection, which combined with trpzApConfApConfigApName/trpzApConfApConfigContact helps quickly identify which physical AP and site contact to follow up with. The trpzApConfigConformance and trpzApConfigCompliances groups define agent compliance requirements rather than runtime data.

What Can Be Monitored

  • AP inventory (serial number, model)
  • AP attachment type/physical port
  • AP name/contact metadata
  • AP responsiveness/timeout status
