Description: Monitors Zhone Technologies wireless terminal node signal levels, link budget, and connectivity status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ZHONE-GEN-WTN-MONITOR-MIB?
ZHONE-GEN-WTN-MONITOR-MIB is a Zhone Technologies MIB for monitoring wireless transport node (ZWT) equipment used in Zhone's wireless backhaul/access product line. It exposes general system status data along with wireless-specific metrics such as signal levels, link budget, and connectivity status for the wireless link. This is fundamentally a hardware health and connectivity monitoring MIB: it lets an operator track whether the wireless transport link is up, how strong or marginal the signal is, and whether the node's general system status indicates a healthy operating state. It presumably builds on Zhone's generic alarm framework (ZHONE-GEN-ALARM) for reporting fault conditions when link quality degrades. It is deployed on Zhone wireless transport node hardware used for point-to-point or point-to-multipoint wireless backhaul in broadband access networks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ZHONE-GEN-WTN-MONITOR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHONE-GEN-WTN-MONITOR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Zhone wireless transport node (ZWT) equipment
Monitoring Examples
No object names were given, but per module_desc this MIB reports general system status for the wireless transport node; a realistic use is polling signal level and link-status objects periodically to detect a degrading wireless link before it drops, correlating falling signal strength with rising error rates on the backhaul connection.
What Can Be Monitored
- wireless signal level
- link budget/margin
- connectivity/link status
- general system status
