Description: Manages Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR routing policy statements, match conditions, and actions.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TIMETRA-ROUTE-POLICY-MIB?
TIMETRA-ROUTE-POLICY-MIB is a Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent proprietary SNMP module for SROS equipment that manages and monitors routing policy objects such as AS-path lists and BGP community lists used to control route redistribution, filtering, and manipulation. It exposes operational tables of policy match objects, including named AS-path regular expressions and community member lists, along with row-status and last-changed tracking for each policy element. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration-state visibility, confirming which route-policy match conditions are actively defined and when they were last modified, which is important for troubleshooting unexpected route filtering or redistribution behavior rather than hardware health. It works alongside standard BGP MIBs and other TIMETRA routing MIBs, since these policy objects are referenced by route policies applied to BGP, OSPF, and other protocols. It is deployed on Nokia 7750 SR/7450 routers used for policy-based route control in service-provider networks. Engineers can download the TIMETRA-ROUTE-POLICY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIMETRA-ROUTE-POLICY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR / 7450 ESS routers
- SROS routers with policy-based BGP/route control
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls tRPOperASPathTable/tRPOperASPathEntry to inspect the tRPOperASPathRegEx defined for a named AS-path list (tRPOperASPathName), verifying it matches the intended set of autonomous systems for route filtering. The tRPOperCommunityTable/tRPOperCommunityEntry shows configured community members (tRPOperCommunityMember) for each named community list, useful when troubleshooting why routes tagged with a specific BGP community are unexpectedly permitted or denied. Checking tRPOperASPathEntryLastChanged against a recent routing incident helps confirm whether a policy edit is the root cause.
What Can Be Monitored
- AS-path list definitions and regex patterns
- BGP community list membership
- policy object row status
- last-changed timestamps for policy entries

| STR tRPAdminOwner | 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.2.17.2.1.1 | DisplayString | read-write | Who has last initialized the administrative tables, who is making all the changes, and who is expected to either commit or re-initialize (ABORT-TRANSACTION). tRPAdminOwner is advisory only. Before beginning a transaction, read tRPAdminOwner. If it is empty then proceed with the configuration. Set tRPAdminOwner after setting tRPAdminControlApply so that other users will be advised to not make changes to the Admin tables. Agent sets tRPAdminOwner to empty string after tRPAdminControlApply is set - either by user initializing or committing, or by agent timing out the uncommitted transactions (tRPAdminLastSetTimer). |
| INT tRPAdminControlApply | 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.2.17.2.1.2 | INTEGER | read-write | This object controls the use of tRPAdminValueObjects tables. This object always reads none(1). When set to initialize(2), the objects in tRPAdminValueObjects tables are set to the current Operational values, from the corresponding tRPOperValueObjects tables. Any uncommitted changes are lost, so setting this value corresponds to both BEGIN-TRANSACTION and ABORT-TRANSACTION. When set to commit(3) (END-TRANSACTION), all of the objects from tRPAdminValueObjects tables are copied to the corresponding tRPOperValueObjects table objects. Then, all routes are re-evaluated with the new policies. Later arriving routes are evaluated with the new policies. In this way, the (expensive) route re-evaluation can be performed at one time, with a coherent route policy configuration. |
| NUM tRPAdminLastSetTimer | 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.2.17.2.1.3 | TimeInterval | read-only | The time remaining until the agent re-initializes the administrative tables. If tRPAdminControlApply is not set to commit(3) within tRPAdminLastSetTimeout centiseconds, the agent will set it to initialize(2) and all uncommitted changes will be lost. This way, uncommitted changes from failed (uncompleted) change sets will eventually be removed, and another transaction can safely begin. This object is reset to tRPAdminLastSetTimeout after SNMP SET operation to any of the tRPAdminValueObjects tables. |
| NUM tRPAdminLastSetTimeout | 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.2.17.2.1.4 | TimeInterval | read-write | Timeout for tRPAdminLastSetTimer. The value zero is not allowed. |
