Description: Manages Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR Cflowd IP traffic flow export configuration and statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TIMETRA-CFLOWD-MIB?

TIMETRA-CFLOWD-MIB is a Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent SNMP module (TIMETRA family) for managing and monitoring the Cflowd IP traffic-flow export and analysis feature on Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR-series routers, similar in concept to NetFlow/sFlow. It exposes configuration for flow sampling (sample rate, active/inactive timeouts, cache size, aggregation mode) as well as operational status and statistics for the flow-export process itself. Its monitoring relevance is centered on software/service health for the flow-export function: tmnxCflowdOperStatus and tmnxCflowdAdminStatus reveal whether the Cflowd process is actually running as configured, tmnxCflowdActiveFlows and tmnxCflowdOverflow expose real-time load on the flow cache (a high overflow count signals the cache is undersized for current traffic volume), and tmnxCflowdMaxCollectors/tmnxCFHostTableLastChanged support tracking the collector configuration. It is part of the broader TIMETRA MIB family for Nokia SR OS and would typically be used alongside standard flow-export protocols (NetFlow v5/v9/IPFIX) that Cflowd implements on the wire, though SNMP here only manages the local feature. It is deployed on Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent SR routers used as flow-monitoring points in a service provider or enterprise WAN core, and network teams typically begin with a TIMETRA-CFLOWD-MIB download to compile the module into their flow-monitoring NMS.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIMETRA-CFLOWD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR-series router

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll tmnxCflowdOperStatus against tmnxCflowdAdminStatus to confirm the Cflowd flow-export feature is administratively enabled and actually running, catching a misconfiguration where the feature was enabled but failed to activate. tmnxCflowdActiveFlows and tmnxCflowdOverflow would be monitored together to detect when the flow cache (sized via tmnxCflowdCacheSize) is being exceeded, indicating the sample rate (tmnxCflowdSampleRate) or cache size needs tuning for current traffic volumes. tmnxCflowdActiveTimeout and tmnxCflowdInactiveTimeout would be checked if flow records are expiring faster than expected, and tmnxCFHostTableLastChanged lets the NMS efficiently detect when the collector host list has been modified.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Cflowd admin/operational status
  • active flow count
  • flow cache overflow count
  • flow sample rate
  • active/inactive flow timeout
  • flow collector host configuration change

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using tmnxCflowdTotalPktsRcvd OID:

Select a Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR-series router (Cflowd flow-export process/cache status) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type tmnxCflowdTotalPktsRcvd into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. The value of tmnxCflowdTotalPktsRcvd indicates the total number of packets received for Cflowd. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
