Description: Manages Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7210 SAS alarm input contact configuration and state.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TIMETRA-SAS-ALARM-INPUT-MIB?

TIMETRA-SAS-ALARM-INPUT-MIB is part of Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent's TIMETRA enterprise MIB family for the 7210 SAS service aggregation switch, managing physical external alarm input contacts (e.g. door, temperature, or power sensors wired into the chassis). It exposes tmnxSasAlarmInputInfoTable with per-input description, polarity, administrative state, and current status, plus a message table for trigger text sent with notifications. It is heavily focused on monitoring hardware/environmental status: tmnxSasAlarmInputStatus reports whether an external sensor's alarm is currently active, tmnxSasAlarmInputLastChange timestamps the last transition, and tmnxSasAlarmOutputSeverity classifies how critical the condition is. It complements the standard ENTITY-MIB physical-entity model used elsewhere in the TIMETRA tree for identifying chassis components. It is deployed on 7210 SAS access nodes installed in remote cabinets or huts where physical/environmental alarm contacts need centralized SNMP monitoring. Engineers can download the TIMETRA-SAS-ALARM-INPUT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIMETRA-SAS-ALARM-INPUT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7210 SAS service aggregation switch
  • remote cabinet/hut with external alarm contacts

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll tmnxSasAlarmInputInfoTable (indexed by tmnxSasAlarmInputId) and watch tmnxSasAlarmInputStatus for a transition to active, indicating a wired door-open or environmental sensor has tripped at a remote cabinet. tmnxSasAlarmInputLastChange would confirm exactly when the event occurred, and tmnxSasAlarmOutputSeverity would determine whether it warrants an immediate dispatch. tmnxSasAlarmInputMessageTable's tmnxSasAlarmInputTriggerMessage supplies the human-readable text sent along with the resulting notification.

What Can Be Monitored

  • alarm input status (active/inactive)
  • alarm input polarity
  • administrative state of alarm input
  • last state-change time
  • alarm severity classification
  • trigger message text
