Category: Power Management

Description: Manages Raritan intelligent PDU power distribution units, providing per-outlet switching, current, voltage, and power measurements.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDU-MIB?

PDU-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Raritan for its Dominion PX line of intelligent power distribution units (PDUs), rack-mounted devices that distribute and monitor AC power to connected equipment. It exposes hardware identity/configuration data (firmware version, serial number, IP address, netmask, gateway, MAC address, hardware revision) along with per-outlet/board power measurements and user/group access configuration. As a hardware/software status MIB it is used heavily for monitoring: firmwareVersion and hardwareRev indicate the unit's software/hardware baseline, board-level power objects reveal overload conditions, and trap objects surface fault events such as threshold breaches. It is a self-contained Raritan proprietary MIB but conceptually parallels other vendor PDU MIBs and can coexist with standard entity/physical MIBs for board-level inventory, given its board object. It is typically deployed in data centers and server rooms where Raritan Dominion PX PDUs provide remote power monitoring and per-outlet control for racks of servers and network equipment. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the PDU-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDU-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Raritan Dominion PX intelligent PDU

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll firmwareVersion and hardwareRev to confirm the PDU is on a supported firmware/hardware baseline, and check ipAddress, netmask, and gateway to verify management network configuration after a redeploy. Board-level power objects (under the board object) would be monitored to detect an overloaded circuit or a failing outlet, and the traps object would notify the NMS of threshold-crossing power events.

What Can Be Monitored

  • firmware version and hardware revision
  • management IP/network configuration
  • per-outlet/board current, voltage, and power draw
  • user/group access configuration
  • power threshold trap events
