Description: Manages ARP configuration and proxy-ARP settings for the Paradyne Multi-Port Ethernet (MPE) module.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-MPE-ARP-MIB?

PDN-MPE-ARP-MIB is a Paradyne enterprise MIB for the Multi-Port Ethernet (MPE) expansion module, covering ARP table management and proxy-ARP configuration on its 802.3 Ethernet interfaces. It exposes network-to-media (IP-to-MAC) mapping objects and 802.3 media configuration parameters used to control address resolution behavior on the module. As a configuration- and state-oriented MIB it is used to monitor the software status of ARP resolution and Ethernet media settings on the MPE card, helping detect stale or missing ARP entries and misconfigured proxy-ARP that could disrupt Layer 2/3 connectivity, though it does not expose classic hardware health sensors. It follows the general structure of the standard IETF IP-MIB net-to-media table and 802.3 media MIBs, adapted as a Paradyne-specific extension. It is deployed on Paradyne access platforms equipped with the MPE Ethernet expansion module in DSL access network environments, where PDN-MPE-ARP-MIB SNMP monitoring helps confirm ARP resolution stays healthy on each interface.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-MPE-ARP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne MPE Ethernet module
  • DSL access multiplexer expansion card

Monitoring Examples

An operator would inspect entries reachable via mpePdnNetToMediaGenericMIBObjects (the ARP/net-to-media table analogs) to verify correct IP-to-MAC bindings for hosts behind the MPE module, and review mpePdnNetTo8023MediaConfig to confirm Ethernet port settings match provisioning. Traps from mpePdnNetToMediaMIBTraps would flag ARP conflicts or resolution failures. Unexpected entries or churn in the net-to-media table can reveal duplicate IP addresses or a misbehaving proxy-ARP configuration on the module.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ARP/net-to-media table entries
  • proxy-ARP configuration
  • 802.3 media parameters
