Description: Default Route Entry Timeout is the length of time a default route entry will remain in the ARP table. If default route gets this old without being referenced, an ARP request will be sent to the next hop router. If no response is received, it will be removed from the ARP table and the card will switch to the next reachable default route with the highest preference. The range for this parameter is 1 to 20 minutes.
What is mpePdnNetTo8023MediaParamsDefRouteEntryTimeout?
This object sets how many minutes a default-route ARP entry can sit unused before the device sends a fresh ARP request to the next-hop router, and if that request goes unanswered the device removes the entry and fails over to the next reachable default route, within a range of 1 to 20 minutes and a default of 1. An administrator tunes this to control how quickly the device notices a dead default gateway and switches to a backup route. For example, setting this object to 5 means the device waits up to five idle minutes before re-verifying reachability of its current default-route next hop.
