Description: Incomplete Entry Timeout is the length of time that an incomplete entry remains in the ARP table before removal. An incomplete entry is one for which there is no MAC address -- i.e. an ARP request has been made, but no response has been received. This is also the amount of time that a packet will remain in the system while waiting for address resolution. The range for this parameter is 1 to 255 minutes.

What is mpePdnNetTo8023MediaParamsIncompEntryTimeout?

This object sets how many minutes an incomplete ARP entry — one where a request was sent but no reply ever arrived — stays in the table (and how long a waiting packet is held) before being discarded, with a valid range of 1 to 255 minutes and a default of 3. An administrator adjusts this to control how long the device keeps retrying or buffering traffic for an unresponsive neighbor before giving up. For example, lowering this object from its default of 3 to 1 minute makes the device abandon unanswered ARP attempts and drop the associated pending packet more quickly.
