What Is DDS-MIB?

DDS-MIB is a private MIB for managing Digital Data Service (DDS) circuits, a legacy leased-line digital transmission service, covering line configuration and performance monitoring for DSU/CSU-type equipment. Its data categories include per-line configuration (line type, data rate, clock source, encoding) and status/performance monitoring of the DDS circuit. It supports monitoring of hardware status through line configuration state and data-rate/clock-source settings that reveal misconfiguration or signal issues on the circuit. As a legacy telecom line MIB it would typically be used alongside standard DS1/T1-related MIBs where DDS interfaces overlay similar physical transport, and looking up a specific DDS-MIB OID under ddsLineCfgTable is often the quickest way to identify an object during circuit troubleshooting. Deployment context is DSU/CSU devices providing DDS leased-line connectivity in legacy WAN environments.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DDS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll ddsLineCfgTable/ddsLineCfgEntry (indexed by ddsLineCfgIndex) to check ddsLineType, ddsDataRate, and ddsAutoDataRateDetect settings, confirming a line is configured for the expected rate; a mismatch with ddsTxClockSource or ddsZeroEncodingCfg could explain line errors or sync issues. ddsDteCfgTable would be checked for DTE-side configuration matching the DSU, and ddsDefaultConfig would be referenced to see the baseline configuration profile applied to new lines.
