Module: PDN-MPE-ARP-MIB

OID (symbolic): PDN-MPE-ARP-MIB::mpePdnNetTo8023MediaParamsCompEntryTimeout

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.12.27.1.1.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Complete Entry Timeout is the length of time that a complete entry remains in the ARP table before removal. A complete entry is one for which there is a MAC address -- i.e. a node has responded to the ARP request. If an entry gets this old without being referenced, it will be removed from the table. The range for this parameter is 1 to 200000 minutes.

What is mpePdnNetTo8023MediaParamsCompEntryTimeout?

This object sets how many minutes a fully-resolved ARP table entry (one that already has a MAC address because the target node responded) is kept before being aged out if it goes unused, with a valid range of 1 to 200000 minutes and a default of 20. An administrator tunes this to balance ARP table freshness against unnecessary re-resolution traffic; too short a timeout causes needless repeated ARP requests, while too long a timeout risks stale MAC mappings after network changes. For example, setting this object to 60 keeps a resolved neighbor's MAC address cached for an hour of inactivity before the device re-resolves it.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.12.27.1.1.1.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PDN-MPE-ARP-MIB::mpePdnNetTo8023MediaParamsCompEntryTimeout

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.12.27.1.1.1.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PDN-MPE-ARP-MIB::mpePdnNetTo8023MediaParamsCompEntryTimeout.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.12.27.1.1.1.1.1.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> mpePdnNetTo8023MediaParamsCompEntryTimeout.1
