What Is OMNI-gx2RX1000-MIB?
OMNI-gx2RX1000-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for the Cisco/Scientific-Atlanta GX2 RX1000, a 1000 MHz optical receiver card used in hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) optical node deployments within cable television and broadband access networks. Although no sample objects were captured, an optical receiver card MIB of this kind typically models the card's optical input level, RF output level, module temperature, and operational/alarm status. Its monitoring emphasis would be hardware health of the optical receiver: tracking whether received optical power is within range, whether the card is reporting a fault or alarm, and general operational state, which is critical for detecting fiber cuts, laser degradation, or node hardware failure in an HFC plant. As part of the broader Scientific-Atlanta/Cisco optical node product line, it likely coexists with related OMNI-series MIBs covering the node housing and other cards in the same chassis. It is typically deployed by cable operators managing fiber node sites feeding coax distribution networks. Engineers can download the OMNI-gx2RX1000-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OMNI-gx2RX1000-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- General Instrument OmniStar GX2 HFC headend/optical node (GX2 RX1000 1000 MHz optical receiver card)
Monitoring Examples
Because sample objects were not available for this module, a concrete monitoring scenario cannot be honestly constructed from confirmed object names; in practice an operator would expect to poll optical receive-level, RF output, temperature, and alarm/status objects for the GX2 RX1000 card to detect fiber signal degradation or card hardware faults at an HFC node site. This description is based on the card's known function (a 1000 MHz optical receiver) rather than on verified MIB object names.
What Can Be Monitored
- optical receive signal level (expected)
- RF output level (expected)
- card temperature (expected)
- card operational/alarm status (expected)

This object is a 32 bit object. Validation data is entered into bytes zero and one of the object. Bytes three and four are used to entering the hold time for the specified alarm object. The Hold timer data ranges from 0 to 1300 seconds. The index of this object corresponds to the alarm object to be modified. Alarm Hold timers correspond to the index of this object as follows: Index 1 = xxx, index 2 = xxxx, Index 3 = xxxx, The hold time is represented in seconds. |
