What Is NLS-BBNIDENT-MIB?
NLS-BBNIDENT-MIB is an identification and registration MIB for NLS BBN broadband network devices, defining the objects and OID arcs used to identify device modules and register them within the vendor's enterprise MIB tree. Rather than performance counters, it primarily exposes identity-type information -- device/module identification, hardware and software version identifiers, and the registration structure that companion MIBs (such as NLSBBN-TRAPS-MIB) build upon. Its contribution to monitoring is largely about establishing which hardware/software module is installed and which OID namespace its status objects live under, making it foundational to confirming device/software version and module inventory during fault diagnosis. It is closely tied to and depended upon by the vendor's other NLS BBN MIBs, notably the traps module which references identity objects defined here in its notifications.
