Category: CATV and HFC

Description: Manages the Cisco/Scientific Atlanta GX2 CM optical node line card status and performance in CATV HFC plants.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is OMNI-gx2CM-MIB?

OMNI-gx2CM-MIB is a Blonder Tongue (BBN/GX2 HFC headend heritage) proprietary MIB reporting gx2CM (cable-headend combiner module) factory/network/analog/digital/status/AMC/security/diagnostic telemetry. Its tables (factory, network, analog, digital, status, AMC, security, diagnostic, download, each keyed by module index) track per-parameter label/unit/thresholds/current-value for analog measurements like module temperature, alongside a trap-history table. As a hardware-performance MIB it lets an administrator watch a gx2CM module's analog telemetry against threshold bands and review its trap history in an HFC headend. It is deployed on Blonder Tongue (GX2) HFC headend equipment. Engineers can download the OMNI-gx2CM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OMNI-gx2CM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • General Instrument OmniStar GX2 HFC headend/optical node (gx2CM combiner module)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator reviews cmTrapHistoryTable and checks majorHighModTemp thresholds to diagnose a recent alarm on a gx2CM module in an HFC headend.

What Can Be Monitored

  • gx2CM module analog telemetry and trap history
