Description: Manages Nortel Magellan Passport DPN distributed packet network routing protocol configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Nortel-Magellan-Passport-DpnRoutingMIB?

This Nortel Magellan Passport module manages DPN (Distributed Packet Network) routing protocol configuration on Passport platforms, a legacy Nortel packet-switching routing scheme used for X.25-style packet network services. It exposes routing provisioning tables (rtgDpnProvTable) and row-status tables (rtgDpnRowStatusTable) that define logical network numbers, routing IDs, and module IDs used to identify and provision DPN routing instances on the switch. Its monitoring role is routing configuration verification: confirming DPN routing components are correctly provisioned with the right logical network number and routing ID, and that their row status is active, necessary for packets to be correctly routed across the DPN network fabric. As with other Passport modules it follows the shared component-name/storage-type/row-status conventions used across the Magellan Passport MIB family, indicating a common underlying management framework rather than an independent standard. It was deployed on Nortel Magellan Passport switches supporting legacy DPN/X.25 packet-switched data services in carrier networks. Engineers can download the Nortel-Magellan-Passport-DpnRoutingMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-Magellan-Passport-DpnRoutingMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel Magellan Passport DPN/X.25 packet switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll rtgDpnProvTable (rtgDpnProvEntry) to verify the rtgDpnLogicalNetworkNumber and rtgDpnRoutingId configured for a DPN routing instance, and check rtgDpnRowStatusTable to confirm the routing component's row is active rather than stuck provisioning. An incorrect rtgDpnModuleId or a non-active row status would explain packets failing to route correctly through that DPN routing entity.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DPN routing provisioning
  • logical network number
  • routing ID
  • row status of routing components
