Description: Codex CDX-6500 Frame Relay interface port configuration and statistics MIB for WAN connectivity management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FRI-OPT-MIB?

FRI-OPT-MIB is a Codex/Motorola-lineage vendor MIB providing Frame Relay interface port configuration and statistics for CDX-6500-series WAN access devices, serving as a general interface-level companion to the more specific FRDCE-OPT-MIB and FRDTE-OPT-MIB modules. It exposes station-level protocol group objects for Frame Relay ports on the device, used to configure and verify how a given interface communicates over the WAN link. Its monitoring role is largely configuration/software-status oriented, letting an administrator confirm protocol group settings for a port before troubleshooting connectivity problems. It shares its object naming and dependency structure directly with FRDCE-OPT-MIB and FRDTE-OPT-MIB, reflecting a common underlying CDX-6500 MIB design. It is used in legacy Frame Relay WAN deployments where Codex CDX-6500 devices provide the physical and data-link connectivity. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the FRI-OPT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FRI-OPT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Codex CDX-6500 Frame Relay interface/WAN access device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cdx6500PCTStationProtocolGroup and cdx6500PSTStationProtocolGroup on a CDX-6500 port to confirm its Frame Relay protocol group configuration, useful when a newly provisioned WAN circuit fails to pass traffic and a protocol mismatch is suspected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Frame Relay port protocol group configuration
