Category: Frame Relay

Description: Frame Relay DTE optional extensions MIB providing user-side management objects for Frame Relay data terminal equipment interface configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FRDTE-OPT-MIB?

FRDTE-OPT-MIB is a Codex/Motorola-lineage vendor MIB providing user-side (DTE) optional management extensions for Frame Relay interfaces on CDX-6500-series equipment, mirroring the DCE-side FRDCE-OPT-MIB. It exposes station-level protocol group configuration objects for the customer/terminal side of a Frame Relay link. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration-status oriented, allowing an administrator to verify the DTE station's protocol group setting matches what the network side expects, which affects whether the frame relay circuit establishes and passes traffic correctly. It shares its object structure and dependency with the companion FRDCE-OPT-MIB and FRI-OPT-MIB modules covering the same CDX-6500 device family. It is used in legacy Frame Relay WAN deployments on the customer-premises (DTE) end of a Codex CDX-6500 connection. Engineers can download the FRDTE-OPT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FRDTE-OPT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Codex CDX-6500 Frame Relay access device (DTE/customer-premises side)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polling cdx6500PCTStationProtocolGroup and cdx6500PSTStationProtocolGroup on the DTE-side device can confirm the station protocol group configuration matches the DCE-side network equipment, helping diagnose a Frame Relay circuit that fails to come up due to a protocol group mismatch between customer and network equipment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Frame Relay DTE station protocol group configuration
