Description: Manages DECnet DNA interface configuration and routing on Micom network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is MICOM-IFDNA-MIB?

MICOM-IFDNA-MIB is a Micom proprietary MIB that manages DECnet Phase IV DNA (Digital Network Architecture) interface addressing and routing configuration on Micom network devices such as multiplexers and WAN routers. It exposes per-interface DNA configuration through parallel running (mcmIfDnaTable) and non-volatile (nvmIfDnaTable) tables, each carrying interface index, DNA address type, DNA address digits, and status objects. Monitoring this MIB reveals the software-configured state of DECnet addressing on each interface, primarily via the mcmIfDnaStatus/nvmIfDnaStatus objects that indicate whether a given interface's DNA configuration is active, and comparing the running vs. non-volatile tables exposes configuration drift after a reboot. It relies on standard interface-indexing conventions (ifIndex-style) to correlate DNA entries with underlying physical/logical interfaces. It is typically deployed on legacy Micom WAN multiplexers/routers running DECnet over serial or leased-line links in older enterprise or government networks, where MICOM-IFDNA-MIB SNMP monitoring helps confirm DNA addressing stays consistent between reboots.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MICOM-IFDNA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Micom multiplexer/router
  • DECnet-capable WAN device

Monitoring Examples

An admin polls mcmIfDnaTable (indexed by mcmIfDnaIfIndex) to check mcmIfDnaStatus and mcmIfDNADigits for the active DECnet address on an interface, then compares against nvmIfDnaTable's saved configuration to confirm the non-volatile settings match; a mismatch or an inactive status would indicate the interface failed to bring up its DECnet addressing after a restart.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DECnet DNA interface status
  • DNA address type and digits
  • non-volatile vs. running DNA configuration
  • interface index mapping
