Description: Extreme Networks MIB for MPLS label switching configuration and operational status on ExtremeXOS router platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EXTREME-MPLS-MIB?

EXTREME-MPLS-MIB is an Extreme Networks vendor extension to the IETF's standard MPLS Traffic Engineering MIB (mplsTeStdMIB), adding vendor-specific configuration and operational status objects for MPLS label-switched paths on ExtremeXOS-based routing platforms. It is expected to expose data such as LSP configuration parameters, label bindings, and traffic-engineering tunnel status that extend beyond what the standard MPLS-TE MIB captures. For monitoring, an MPLS MIB of this kind is used to verify LSP operational state, confirm tunnels are correctly signaled and up, and detect path failures or reroutes in an MPLS core network, which is fundamentally a network-service fault and status check rather than a hardware sensor reading. Its explicit dependency is on the standard mplsTeStdMIB, which it extends rather than replaces, so a management station would need both MIBs to get a complete picture. It is deployed on Extreme Networks ExtremeXOS switches/routers acting as label-switch routers in an MPLS-enabled network core or edge, where EXTREME-MPLS-MIB SNMP monitoring helps confirm LSP tunnels stay signaled and up.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXTREME-MPLS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Extreme Networks ExtremeXOS switch/router

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module, so specific table names cannot be cited with confidence; in practice an operator would use such an extension MIB alongside mplsTeStdMibTunnelTable to check Extreme-specific LSP status flags and detect a tunnel that has failed to establish or has fallen back to a secondary path.

RFC description

Extreme Networks MPLS extensions MIB; provides vendor-specific extensions for MPLS TE tunnels, L2VPN, and pseudowire management.

Start monitoring Extreme Networks ExtremeXOS-based switch/router (MPLS-TE extensions) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
