What Is VPN-TC-STD-MIB?
VPN-TC-STD-MIB is an IETF standards-track textual-conventions module (RFC 4265) that defines shared data types for Virtual Private Network management, most notably the VPNId type representing a globally unique VPN identifier, for use across other VPN-related MIBs. It is vendor-neutral and belongs to the network/VPN management standards area, but as a pure TC module it exposes no OBJECT-TYPE instances, tables, counters, or traps of its own. It therefore cannot be used to monitor hardware or software status directly -- there is no uptime, interface, or fault data here. Other VPN MIBs (such as PPVPN/MPLS-VPN or L2/L3 VPN MIBs) depend on the VPNId and related types defined here to consistently identify VPN instances across devices. It is deployed only as an import dependency within VPN-capable routers' and PE devices' broader MIB sets, not queried independently, and in a VPN-TC-STD-MIB SNMP toolchain this module is loaded purely to resolve the VPNId type used by dependent provisioning MIBs rather than to retrieve live data.

Monitoring Examples
This module defines only textual conventions (notably the VPNId type) with no OBJECT-TYPE instances, tables, or notifications, so there is nothing to poll directly; monitoring of actual VPN state occurs in the MIBs that import VPNId, such as MPLS/L3VPN provisioning MIBs.
