Category: MPLS and Traffic Engineering, Vendor: Extreme Networks
Description: Extreme Networks MIB for MPLS Traffic Engineering extensions, managing TE tunnels and constraint-based path setup on Extreme routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is EXTREME-MPLS-TE-MIB?
EXTREME-MPLS-TE-MIB is an Extreme Networks private MIB extending the IETF MPLS Traffic Engineering standard MIB (mplsTeStdMIB) with vendor-specific objects for managing MPLS-TE tunnels and constraint-based path setup on Extreme routing platforms. Although no sample objects were provided, based on its description it would add Extreme-specific tunnel attributes, path/constraint parameters, and possibly tunnel status counters layered on top of the standard TE tunnel tables. It is used to monitor the software/service status of traffic-engineered MPLS tunnels -- administrative/operational state, path selection, and bandwidth reservation -- rather than physical hardware health. It explicitly depends on and extends the IETF MPLS-TE-STD-MIB, reusing its tunnel indexing and structure. It is typically deployed on Extreme Networks core/aggregation routers providing MPLS-TE services in service-provider or large enterprise backbones. Engineers can download the EXTREME-MPLS-TE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXTREME-MPLS-TE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Extreme Networks MPLS-capable routers/switches
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module, so specific table names cannot be confirmed from source; based on the description, a realistic scenario would be polling tunnel status objects (extending the standard mplsTunnelTable) to confirm a traffic-engineered tunnel is up and following its intended constraint-based path, flagging reroutes or tunnel failures.
What Can Be Monitored
- MPLS-TE tunnel administrative/operational status
- constraint-based path selection
- tunnel bandwidth reservation
