Category: Domain: WAN, Vendor: Memotec
Description: Manages asynchronous I/O hardware port parameters and status on CX Memotec devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CXAsyncIo-MIB?
CXAsyncIo-MIB is a vendor MIB for CX (Memotec) devices, covering asynchronous serial I/O hardware ports found on Memotec's WAN access/gateway equipment used to connect legacy serial devices (e.g., terminals, modems, POS equipment) over a network. It exposes administrative and operational port tables for asynchronous I/O interfaces, describing each port's configured settings and its current operating state. Its monitoring value centers on hardware port status: the operational port table lets an operator confirm whether a given async serial port is actually up and passing traffic versus down or disabled, the primary indicator of a failed serial connection, bad cable, or misconfigured attached device on that port. It is a device-specific hardware MIB likely used alongside more general system/interface MIBs on the same platform rather than a standards-based MIB in its own right. It is deployed on CX/Memotec WAN gateway or protocol-conversion devices that bridge legacy asynchronous serial equipment onto a modern network, and administrators can download the CXAsyncIo-MIB file to load into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXAsyncIo-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- CX (Memotec) WAN gateway / protocol conversion device with asynchronous serial ports
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll asioSapOprTable to check each async I/O port's operational status and compare it against the corresponding configuration in asioSapAdmTable, confirming a port's actual state matches its administrative setting. A port showing an administratively enabled state in asioSapAdmTable but a down/inactive state in asioSapOprTable would indicate a hardware fault, disconnected cable, or unresponsive attached serial device on that port. Because only these two table names were available, more granular column-level detail (e.g., specific baud-rate or signal objects) can't be confirmed from the given data.
What Can Be Monitored
- async I/O port operational status
- async I/O port administrative configuration
- per-port serial connection state
