What Is CXAtmDxi-MIB?

CXAtmDxi-MIB is a MIB from CX/Memotec (a WAN access/gateway equipment vendor) managing ATM-DXI (Data Exchange Interface) configuration and circuit status, a protocol used to connect DTE devices to ATM networks over a serial link using frame-based encapsulation. It exposes translation configuration mapping DXI frames to ATM VPI/VCI addressing (DFA-to-VPI/VCI translation) as well as per-SAP (Service Access Point) connection tables tracking connect timers, control state, operational state, and transmitted frame counts. For monitoring it lets an operator confirm each ATM-DXI SAP's operational state and watch transmitted-frame counters to verify traffic is actually flowing over a configured circuit, revealing a SAP stuck in a non-connected state or a circuit passing no traffic, which is a software/protocol-state health check on the WAN interface. It depends on underlying ATM interface and DXI standards (ATM Forum DXI specification) for the physical/logical layer it configures. It is typically deployed on CX Memotec WAN access devices/gateways bridging serial DTE equipment onto ATM backbones, and the CXAtmDxi-MIB MIB defines the objects used to monitor these circuits.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXAtmDxi-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • CX Memotec WAN access gateway

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll atmDxiPSapTable/atmDxiPSapEntry indexed by atmDxiPSapNumber to check atmDxiPSapState and atmDxiPSapControl, confirming a given SAP has successfully connected rather than being stuck negotiating, and would watch atmDxiPSapConnectTimer for repeated connection attempts. The atmDxiPSapTxFrames counter would be monitored to confirm frames are actively being transmitted on that SAP, with a flat/non-incrementing counter indicating a circuit carrying no traffic despite an up state. The atmDxiTranslationVpi/atmDxiTranslationVci and atmDxiTranslationDfa objects would be checked to verify the DXI-to-ATM address translation mapping matches the intended circuit configuration.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM-DXI SAP operational/control state
  • SAP connect timer/attempts
  • transmitted frame count per SAP
  • DFA-to-VPI/VCI address translation mapping
