Description: HH3C MIB for Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) configuration and statistics on H3C WAN interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-PPP-MIB?

HH3C-PPP-MIB is an H3C MIB for managing Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) configuration and authentication on H3C WAN interfaces. It exposes a per-interface authentication table recording the configured authentication type (e.g., PAP/CHAP) and the username used for that link. Its monitoring value is centered on link authentication status/configuration, confirming which authentication method and credentials are configured per WAN interface, useful for diagnosing failed PPP session establishment due to authentication mismatches, a software/configuration-status concern rather than hardware health. It complements the standard IETF PPP-related MIBs by adding H3C-specific authentication detail. It is typically deployed on H3C routers with serial, ISDN, or other WAN interfaces running PPP to service providers or remote sites. Engineers can download the HH3C-PPP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-PPP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C router with WAN interfaces

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll hh3cPPPAuthTable, keyed by hh3cPPPIfIndex, to check hh3cPPPAuthType and hh3cPPPUserName for a WAN interface experiencing PPP negotiation failures. A mismatch between the configured hh3cPPPAuthType (e.g., CHAP expected but PAP configured) and what the peer expects would explain repeated authentication failures preventing the PPP link from coming up. This table would typically be checked alongside standard PPP-MIB link-status objects for a complete diagnosis.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PPP authentication type per interface
  • PPP username configured per interface
  • interface-to-PPP-auth binding
