Category: Vendor: ADTRAN

Description: Provides per-CoS per-UNI MEF performance history intervals on ADTRAN devices for carrier Ethernet UNI monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ADTRAN-MEF-PER-COS-PER-UNI-PERF-HISTORY-MIB?

This MIB module, defined by ADTRAN for AOS products, implements MEF performance-history statistics broken down per Class of Service (CoS) per User Network Interface (UNI). It exposes high-capacity 15-minute interval performance counters, including ingress/egress green (conforming) frame and octet counts and frame discards measured at the UNI. Like its EVC counterpart, this is a performance/traffic-monitoring MIB, not a hardware health MIB -- it allows carrier Ethernet operators to verify per-CoS throughput and detect frame loss at the customer-facing UNI, useful for SLA compliance reporting and troubleshooting. It follows MEF performance-monitoring conventions and typically depends on associated MEF UNI/CoS configuration MIBs to resolve which physical UNI and queue a set of counters belongs to. It is typically deployed on ADTRAN carrier Ethernet access/demarcation devices delivering Metro Ethernet services at the customer UNI. Engineers can download the ADTRAN-MEF-PER-COS-PER-UNI-PERF-HISTORY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-MEF-PER-COS-PER-UNI-PERF-HISTORY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADTRAN AOS carrier Ethernet access/demarcation device with MEF UNI

Monitoring Examples

An operator polling adMefPerCosPerUniPhCurIngressGreenFrames15Min and adMefPerCosPerUniPhCurEgressGreenFrames15Min for a specific adMefPerCosPerUniPhCurQueueNumber can compare ingress and egress frame volumes at the UNI to confirm traffic is passing cleanly. A spike in adMefPerCosPerUniPhCurEgressGreenFrameDiscards15Min combined with a drop in adMefPerCosPerUniPhCurValidIntervals15Min would indicate the UNI is dropping frames on egress, pointing to local congestion or a provisioning issue at the customer handoff.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-CoS per-UNI ingress/egress green frame counts
  • per-CoS per-UNI ingress/egress green octet counts
  • egress/ingress green frame discards
  • 15-minute interval elapsed time and validity
