What Is ADTRAN-MEF-PER-COS-PER-UNI-TOTAL-COUNT-MIB?

This MIB defines high-capacity, per-Class-of-Service (CoS) per-UNI (User Network Interface) performance counters on ADTRAN AOS-based Carrier Ethernet devices, aligned with MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) performance-reporting conventions. It exposes traffic-volume statistics broken down by CoS queue and color-marking (green/yellow/red), covering ingress octet and frame counts for compliant, excess, and non-conformant traffic. Its monitoring role is squarely performance-focused: tracking per-CoS ingress counters over time reveals whether traffic on a given UNI/queue is exceeding its committed bandwidth profile (shown by rising yellow/red counts), which is essential for verifying SLA compliance on carrier Ethernet services rather than for hardware/chassis health. It is explicitly built around the MEF CoS/color-marking model, tying it to Metro Ethernet Forum service-attribute standards rather than another SNMP MIB. It is deployed on ADTRAN AOS carrier Ethernet access devices at UNI demarcation points where MEF-defined services need per-CoS traffic accounting for SLA verification. Engineers can download the ADTRAN-MEF-PER-COS-PER-UNI-TOTAL-COUNT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-MEF-PER-COS-PER-UNI-TOTAL-COUNT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADTRAN AOS carrier Ethernet access device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll adMefPerCosPerUniTcTable entries, keyed by adMefPerCosPerUniTcQueueNumber, to read adMefPerCosPerUniTotalIngressGreenOctets/Frames, the Yellow equivalents, and adMefPerCosPerUniTotalIngressRedFrames for each CoS queue on a UNI. A sustained increase in yellow or red frame counts relative to green for a specific queue indicates that customer traffic on that class of service is running above its committed information rate, a direct signal of SLA non-conformance that would prompt a bandwidth profile adjustment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ingress green (conformant) octets/frames per CoS
  • ingress yellow (excess) octets/frames per CoS
  • ingress red (non-conformant) frames per CoS
  • per-UNI per-queue traffic totals
