What Is XYPLEX-LAT1-MIB?
XYPLEX-LAT1-MIB is a Xyplex enterprise MIB extending management of DEC's LAT (Local Area Transport) terminal-service protocol on Xyplex terminal servers. It exposes objects for LAT service definitions and per-port configuration used to offer terminal/printer access over LAT to DEC VAX/Alpha hosts. Its monitoring role centers on software/service status: administrators poll LAT service availability and per-port session state to confirm terminal users can successfully connect to the advertised LAT services, and to detect a service that has silently become unavailable. It builds on DEC's proprietary LAT protocol specification rather than an IETF standard. It is deployed on Xyplex terminal servers in legacy DEC VAX/Alpha environments providing serial terminal and printer access over LAT. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the XYPLEX-LAT1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the LAT service table to confirm that the expected named services are still being offered and are reachable, then check per-port configuration and session state to see whether a specific port's LAT session is active or has dropped. A LAT service that disappears from the advertised list would indicate the host offering it is down or its LAT process has failed. Because no sample objects were captured for this MIB, exact object/table names cannot be confirmed beyond what the short description indicates.
