What Is XYPLEX-IPX-MIB?
XYPLEX-IPX-MIB is a Xyplex enterprise MIB for managing Novell IPX protocol routing on Xyplex networking equipment, in an era when IPX/NetWare connectivity was common in enterprise LANs. It exposes IPX routing configuration and a service advertisement (SAP) table used to track available NetWare services reachable through the device. Its monitoring value is mostly software/protocol-state focused: administrators poll the SAP table to confirm expected NetWare servers and services are being advertised and reachable, and check IPX routing state to detect routing flaps or lost connectivity to NetWare segments. It depends conceptually on the Novell IPX/SAP protocol specifications rather than an IETF standard. It is deployed on Xyplex devices in legacy enterprise networks that still carried Novell NetWare/IPX traffic alongside IP. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the XYPLEX-IPX-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XYPLEX-IPX-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- IPX routing table state
- advertised NetWare services (SAP table)
- IPX connectivity status
Supported Devices
- Xyplex networking equipment (legacy IPX/NetWare environments)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll the IPX service advertisement table to confirm that expected NetWare file/print servers are still being advertised and reachable through the device. A NetWare service disappearing from the SAP table without an administrative change would indicate a lost route or a failed server, prompting investigation. Because no sample objects were captured for this MIB, exact object/table names cannot be confirmed beyond what the short description indicates.
