Category: Ciena LEOS Carrier Ethernet

Description: Manages Ciena LEOS physical and logical port configuration, operational state, and speed/duplex settings.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is WWP-LEOS-PORT-MIB?

WWP-LEOS-PORT-MIB is a Ciena (World Wide Packets, LEOS platform) proprietary MIB managing Ethernet port configuration and status on Ciena carrier Ethernet switches (extending the standard IEEE8023-LAG-MIB). Its port table records name/description/type, physical address, auto-negotiation, admin/operational status, admin/operational speed and duplex, admin/operational flow control (and advertised flow control), ingress PVID, untagged egress VLAN, acceptable frame types, untagged priority, max frame size, VLAN ingress filtering, VPLS port type, and ingress CoS policy. As a configuration/hardware-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm a port's negotiated speed/duplex and VLAN handling match the intended service configuration. It is deployed on Ciena (World Wide Packets LEOS) carrier Ethernet switches. Engineers can download the WWP-LEOS-PORT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-LEOS-PORT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ciena (World Wide Packets LEOS) carrier Ethernet switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks wwpLeosEtherPortOperSpeed and wwpLeosEtherPortOperDuplex against the admin-configured values to rule out an auto-negotiation mismatch on a port reporting poor throughput.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Ethernet port speed/duplex/flow-control and VLAN configuration
