What Is WWP-LEOS-PORT-XCVR-MIB?
This Ciena/WWP LEOS proprietary MIB exposes digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) data for pluggable optical transceiver modules (SFP/SFP+/XFP) installed in switch ports. It exposes hardware environmental telemetry: transmit and receive optical power levels, transceiver temperature, and supply voltage, along with associated alarm/warning thresholds. This is a direct hardware-health monitoring MIB, letting operators detect a degrading or failing optical transceiver, such as falling Rx power indicating a dirty or failing fiber link, or temperature exceeding safe limits, before it causes a link outage. It parallels the functionality of the standards-based SFF-8472 DDM specification and the concept behind the IETF ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB, though implemented as a WWP-LEOS proprietary table. It is deployed on Metro Ethernet switches using pluggable optics, especially in outdoor or environmentally variable installations. Engineers can download the WWP-LEOS-PORT-XCVR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-LEOS-PORT-XCVR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- transceiver Tx optical power
- transceiver Rx optical power
- transceiver temperature
- transceiver supply voltage
- power/temperature alarm thresholds
Supported Devices
- Ciena/World Wide Packets Metro Ethernet switch (optical transceiver ports)
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module in the source data. In general, a transceiver DDM MIB of this kind exposes a per-port table of current Tx/Rx power, temperature, and voltage readings with alarm/warning thresholds, which an operator would poll to catch a transceiver whose Rx power has degraded below threshold, an early warning of a failing fiber connection.

RFC description
WWP LEOS platform optical transceiver monitoring for ports, signal strength, and laser parameters.
Start monitoring Ciena/World Wide Packets Metro Ethernet switch, optical transceiver ports (Tx/Rx optical-power/temperature/voltage status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
