Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is WWP-LEOS-PORT-STATS-MIB?

WWP-LEOS-PORT-STATS-MIB is a Ciena (originally World Wide Packets/LEOS) vendor-specific MIB that provides detailed per-port Ethernet statistics on Ciena LEOS-based Carrier Ethernet platforms. It exposes a single wwpLeosPortStatsTable, indexed by wwpLeosPortStatsPortId, containing dozens of counters spanning receive and transmit traffic (wwpLeosPortStatsRxBytes/RxPkts, wwpLeosPortStatsTxBytes/TxPkts), error conditions (wwpLeosPortStatsRxCrcErrorPkts, wwpLeosPortStatsTxCrcErrorPkts, wwpLeosPortStatsUndersizePkts, wwpLeosPortStatsOversizePkts, wwpLeosPortStatsFragmentPkts, wwpLeosPortStatsJabberPkts), packet-size histogram buckets (wwpLeosPortStats64BytePkts through wwpLeosPortStats4096To9216BytePkts), and link-event counters (wwpLeosPortStatsPortLinkUp/Down/Flap). This data is useful for capacity planning and fault isolation on Carrier Ethernet access/aggregation ports, since size-bucket distributions and error counters reveal whether a port is carrying expected traffic mixes or suffering physical-layer problems. It depends on the WWP-SMI enterprise tree for its module registration and is typically deployed alongside other WWP-LEOS-* MIBs on the same chassis, and administrators can download the WWP-LEOS-PORT-STATS-MIB file to load per-port statistics polling into their monitoring system.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-LEOS-PORT-STATS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ciena (World Wide Packets) LightningEdge Ethernet switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls wwpLeosPortStatsRxCrcErrorPkts and wwpLeosPortStatsPortLinkFlap for a given wwpLeosPortStatsPortId alongside the size-bucket counters; a rising wwpLeosPortStatsPortLinkFlap count together with elevated wwpLeosPortStatsRxCrcErrorPkts would point to a marginal cable or optic causing intermittent link resets on that port.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port RX/TX byte and packet counters
  • CRC error and undersize/oversize/fragment/jabber counters
  • packet-size distribution histogram buckets
  • link up/down/flap event counters
  • unicast/multicast/broadcast packet counters
  • buffer/FPGA drop counters
