Description: Manages Ciena LEOS DNS client resolver server list and domain search configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is WWP-LEOS-DNS-CLIENT-MIB?
This proprietary Ciena/WWP LEOS MIB configures the DNS resolver client on the switch, exposing the configured DNS server list and domain search suffixes. It is a configuration-only MIB with no traffic/performance counters, hardware sensors, or fault traps. Its relevance to device monitoring is indirect: confirming DNS configuration is intact ensures other software features that rely on name resolution (syslog server hostnames, NTP, etc.) function correctly, which is a software-configuration correctness check rather than a hardware/fault indicator. There is no strong standards dependency beyond generic DNS client concepts; it belongs to the WWP-LEOS proprietary MIB family. It is deployed on WWP/Ciena LEOS switches whenever hostname-based configuration is preferred over raw IP addresses. Engineers can download the WWP-LEOS-DNS-CLIENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-LEOS-DNS-CLIENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ciena/World Wide Packets Metro Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module in the source data. In general, a DNS client MIB of this kind exposes the ordered list of configured DNS server addresses and the domain search suffix, which an operator would poll to confirm name resolution is pointed at the correct, reachable servers after a network change.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured DNS server list
- domain search suffix configuration
