Description: Manages Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7210 SAS ACL filter policy configuration and match entries.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TIMETRA-SAS-FILTER-MIB?

TIMETRA-SAS-FILTER-MIB is a proprietary Alcatel-Lucent (now Nokia) MIB for its 7210 SAS (Service Access Switch) product line, managing ACL-style filter policies used to permit or deny traffic on switch interfaces. It exposes extended filter-entry tables covering both IPv4 and IPv6 match criteria, including a flag for whether an entry uses IPv6 resources and whether IPv6 filter blocks operate in 64-bit or 128-bit match mode. Its monitoring/management purpose is software configuration status: administrators check tIPFilterExtnTable and tIPv6FilterExtnTable entries to confirm filter policies are provisioned as intended and that IPv6 filtering resources (tFilterUseIpv6Resource, tFilter64Bitsor128) are allocated correctly, since misconfigured filter resource allocation can silently block legitimate traffic or fail to enforce a security policy. It is proprietary to Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia's Timetra-derived SR OS/SAS platform family and is typically used alongside other TIMETRA-* MIBs for full service and QoS configuration on the same device. It is deployed on Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7210 SAS service access switches in carrier and metro-Ethernet access networks. Engineers can download the TIMETRA-SAS-FILTER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIMETRA-SAS-FILTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7210 SAS service access switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll tIPFilterExtnTable/tIPFilterExtnEntry and the corresponding tIPv6FilterExtnTable/tIPv6FilterExtnEntry to verify a filter policy's extended match criteria are provisioned as expected, checking tFilterUseIpv6Resource to confirm whether a given filter is consuming IPv6 filtering hardware resources. tFilter64Bitsor128 would be checked when IPv6 filter behavior seems incorrect, since a filter block configured for 64-bit matching instead of full 128-bit matching could unintentionally match a broader or narrower set of addresses than intended, causing legitimate traffic to be blocked or unwanted traffic to pass.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IPv4 filter extension entries
  • IPv6 filter extension entries
  • IPv6 resource usage flag
  • IPv6 filter match mode (64-bit vs 128-bit)
